Support Israel Lebron’s Recovery from Hit-and-Run

On May 2nd, 2024, my dad, Israel Lebron, was struck by a car while riding his moped. The driver fled the scene and was never caught, and the police have since closed the investigation due to a lack of evidence. Israel suffered severe injuries, including a shattered leg, a concussion, and staples in his head. He has undergone multiple surgeries to repair three broken bones, a shattered knee, and ankle, requiring rods, screws, and plates. His legs were severely swollen, necessitating the use of a metal fixator to hold his bones together before he could undergo a 5-hour surgery that resulted to 10-hours due to complications. He endured intense pain for 18 days until doctors could get it under control.
Following the surgery, Israel developed blood clots and suffered a pulmonary embolism, further complicating his recovery. He spent 19 days in the hospital and remains in rehab but will soon be able to come home. My mom will need to take time off work to help transition him back home and take care of him until she is able to return to work.
We are trying to make the best of this challenging situation and are enrolling Israel in adult education to get his General Education Diploma (GED), providing him with new opportunities for the future.
This tragic event has been life-changing for our family. With Israel unable to work and my mom out of work to care for him, we are struggling to keep up with our bills. We are doing everything we can, but it’s been incredibly challenging.
He is unable to work as his bones have to grow into the rods in his legs. We are still looking for any support from family, friends, and our community to help assist us.
