Dear Family and Friends… My name is Esmeralda Robles…. I got a phone call last night from RosaElvira with some bad news about our family member, (my uncle) Ismael. She asked me to make a gofundme. They recently found out Ismael has rectal cancer which he has had for about a year. He needs to have immediate surgery tommorow in Tijuana, Mexico (where he lives) and he has no medical benefits. No job, wife, or children to help. They are charging $15,000.00 usa dollars. There will be 2 surgeons. They get 7K each. He will need to be hospitalized 4 days. The tumor is huge and could be even bigger. After the surgery they need to hire someone to take care of him daily, colostomy bag, and chemotherapy. The doctors said we can pay as we go along for the rest of the care but right now we need to come up with $15,000.00 for his surgery. Please donate whatever you can. Lets all help Ismael out. He is in alot of pain and needs us!!! more than ever!!! Please share this!!! (Also RosaElvira Melendrez will be receiveing all of the money). Thank you!
Update: We already received $6,000.00. My mom donated 1K, RosaElvira donated 1K, and Ismael’s sister Veronica from Chicago just sent 1K. Little Tony donated something too. Those are aside from gofund me. The Hernandez-Arreola family just dropped off 1K to my house. $1,100.00 was just received from our LA family Zepeda’s. Miko just donated 1K
$9,000.00 left to raise.
September 1, 2025 UPDATE By: Mica Veronica ‘s son (Ismael’s sister‘s son) :
Hi,
I want to begin by thanking everyone who has donated, shared, or reached out with love and prayers for my uncle, Ismael. Your support has truly lifted our family during this painful and uncertain time.
Here’s the latest update: After recent scans, doctors confirmed the tumors were too large to remove. On July 22nd, Ismael underwent a colostomy surgery. The new treatment plan is chemotherapy twice a month for six months, with the goal of shrinking the tumors enough to hopefully remove them later. Along with chemo, his doctors recommend Bevacizumab antibody therapy. He has his 3rd chemo session coming up on August 30th, which will include the antibody treatment. Before every chemo, he also needs bloodwork and a doctor exam.
The financial burden continues to grow, and we now have a clearer picture of the costs:
Chemotherapy: $1,500 per session (twice a month)
Bevacizumab antibody therapy: $1,000 every two weeks
Blood test before each chemo: $30
Doctor exam before each chemo: $55
Daily care needs (colostomy bags, adult diapers, prescriptions, pain medication): about $25/day
CT scan in October to check progress: $1,000
Please donate whatever you can. Even $20 helps cover part of his daily care. Every dollar brings us closer to keeping his treatments on track and giving him the best chance to fight this cancer. Please share this with others who may want to help.
Ismael is in so much pain, but he continues to fight — and with your support, we can give him the care he needs. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
APRIL 13, 2026: UPDATE
Dear family, friends, and supporters,
We want to begin by saying thank you. Your donations, prayers, and support have truly made a difference in Ismael’s fight against cancer. Because of you, he has been able to receive ongoing treatment and continue fighting.
We wanted to share a current update on where things stand.
The encouraging news is that his treatment is still working. Over time, doctors have seen improvement, and some of his health markers have gotten better — including no longer having anemia. This shows that the treatment has been helping his body respond.
However, Ismael is still battling Stage 4 cancer, and this remains a serious, ongoing fight. His doctors have explained that while the treatment continues to reduce the cancer, it is now happening more slowly, and he still requires consistent care and monitoring.
The biggest challenge we are facing right now is financial.
Although the treatment is helping, the cost of continuing it has become overwhelming. As support has slowed, our family has been forced to make difficult decisions about how to space out care and treatment in order to afford it.
This is incredibly difficult, especially knowing that staying consistent with treatment gives him the best chance to keep fighting.
Ismael still needs continued care, including:
Chemotherapy treatments
Bloodwork and lab testing
Doctor visits and follow-up exams
An upcoming CT scan (scheduled for June)
Prescription medications and pain management
Nutritional support, as recommended by his doctor
Mental health care, including evaluation and support from a specialist
He continues to fight every day, but this journey has taken a serious toll on him physically, mentally, and emotionally. Our hope is to keep his treatment going as consistently as possible and give him the best chance moving forward.
If you are able to donate or share this fundraiser, it would mean more than we can express. Even a small contribution helps keep his care on track and gives him continued access to the treatment and support he needs.
Thank you again for standing with Ismael. Your support has already made a real difference — and we are asking for your help to continue that momentum.
