My name is Kendra Gutierrez, daughter of Ismael Gutierrez — a hardworking father of three and an amazing stepdad to three more.

Recently, my father was detained by ICE in Austin, Texas, and it has been one of the hardest weeks for our family. From trying to locate him to contacting immigration lawyers who can help us bring him back home, it has been an emotional and financial challenge.

My father has no criminal record and holds a valid work permit that allows him to work legally in the U.S. He was already in the process of obtaining his residency, yet that still hasn’t been enough for his release.

The conditions inside the detention center are extremely poor—far from livable. What we’ve seen online about these centers is unfortunately very real. It’s inhumane and unjust, to the point where a county jail would be a better place to stay. No one deserves to be treated this way, specially those who have worked so hard to build a “ better life “.

His wife and children are now left struggling to pay bills and cover the costly legal fees.

Every dollar will go toward legal representation, family expenses, and helping us bring my father home where he belongs.

Mi nombre es Kendra Gutierrez, hija de Ismael Gutierrez, un padre trabajador de tres hijos y un increíble padrastro de otros tres.

Recientemente, mi papá fue detenido por ICE en Austin, Texas, y ha sido una de las semanas más difíciles para nuestra familia. Desde tratar de localizarlo hasta contactar abogados de inmigración que puedan ayudarnos a traerlo de regreso a casa, ha sido un reto emocional y financiero muy grande.

Mi padre no tiene antecedentes criminales y cuenta con un permiso de trabajo válido que le permite laborar legalmente en Estados Unidos. Ya estaba en proceso de obtener su residencia, pero lamentablemente eso no ha sido suficiente para que lo liberen.

Las condiciones dentro del centro de detención son extremadamente malas — lejos de ser habitables. Lo que se ve en internet sobre estos lugares, tristemente, es real. Es inhumano e injusto, al punto que una cárcel del condado sería un lugar mucho más digno. Nadie merece ser tratado de esa manera, especialmente quienes han trabajado tan duro para construir una “mejor vida”.

Su esposa e hijos ahora están luchando por mantenerse al día con los gastos del hogar y los altos costos legales.

Cada dólar donado se destinará a los gastos legales, apoyo familiar y los esfuerzos para traer a mi papá de regreso a casa, donde pertenece.
