Support Isay and Family Recovery After Brain Injury

Donation protected
Dear Supporter,

My name is Yahaira (Yaya). I am a married to a wonderful man, whose name is Isay Moreno.

On December 17, 2023 Isay went into cardiac arrest while being attended to for flu like symptoms at Dell Seton Medical Center. The staff performed CPR on Isay for 10 minutes before they were able to get a heart beat. Unfortunately, being without proper oxygen to the brain for 10 minutes left Isay with a severe anoxic brain injury.

The doctor’s prognosis for Isay was grim and they did not give us much hope for a meaningful recovery. As his wife, I knew from the moment they told me what had happened to him as I anxiously paced the waiting room, that I would fight for him no matter the circumstances. We are happy to say that we are home and doing our best to adapt to our new “normal”.

We recently had the privilege of being interviewed by Special Books for Special Kids, and through that channel we have been so encouraged and have felt so much love from people who are able to sympathize with our family’s tragedy.

I enourage you to take a moment and view the video attached and other posted on our youtube channel - LoveAfterBrainInjury -

We’re kindly asking for support as we raise funds to help our family adjust, heal, and move forward together. We're seeking financial support to cover some important needs — both medical and therapeutic. These include:

-Medical necessities and adaptive equipment that will help him live more comfortably and safely
-A disability bike that would allow him to enjoy outdoor trails again — something he deeply loves and needs for his mental and physical well-being
-Home modifications such as grab bars and accessibility improvements to ensure he can navigate our house safely
-Ongoing therapy for our children and myself, as we all work through the emotional and mental toll of this experience

This journey has been challenging in ways we never imagined, but we're determined to move forward with strength, love, and hope. Any support you can offer — whether through a donation, sharing our story, or simply holding us in your thoughts — means more than words can say.

Thank you for standing with us.

With gratitude,

Isay and Yaya Moreno
