Hi friend and family! My name is Isaias Ortiz, a Junior (third year) student attending the University of Pittsburgh as an Economics and Political Science double major on the pre- Law track with hopes of attending the University of Virginia to obtain my J.D. ! I currently am involved in a few programs at Pitt like the Pittsburgh Management Consulting club where I work with small business to help them obtain their goals. I am also a member of the Blue and Gold Honor Society where I am responsible for helping students and their organizations thrive with the help of the Pitt Alumni Student Association. In my free time I still love to exercise and learn about history.

This GoFundMe is purposed to support my endeavors studying abroad this summer in South Africa, a Pitt sponsored program. The Pitt in South Africa program is a 4 week experience, from 5/10-6/7 where we begin our courses in Johannesburg for a week then take a charted flight to Cape Town where I will take another 2 courses for the remaining three weeks of the program. The program is focused on helping students get an understanding of the history and apartheid in South Africa, gain a cultural experience through cuisine, language and dance, and finally expose us students to a new world beyond anything America has to offer.

The program cost breakdown is as follows:

Tuition for 7 credits, medical insurance, housing, some excursions and meals, and a domestic flight from Johannesburg to Cape Town, $7,199

Flights from America to Johannesburg (roundtrip), $2,000

Estimated Fees $200

Food and meals $600

Miscallenous spending and traveling $800

Total: $10,799
