Our whirlwind began October 12, 2024 with an ER trip due to Isaiah having severe chest pain. A CT showed a mango size mass compressing Isaiah’s heart & arteries. Our first appointment was with a cardiothoracic surgeon who wanted to perform a sternotomy(open heart surgery) the following day. I advocated for a review of Isaiah’s case with the tumor board to ensure all experts weighed in on best plan of care & it was decided Dr Garrison(Oncologist)would take over his care. He’s had an MRI of his brain, PET CT scan to determine spread, & is currently in surgery for core biopsy to determine official diagnosis & port placement to prep for chemotherapy.
Dr. Garrison suspects malignant Germ Cell tumor. Isaiah will begin chemo in the near future with anticipated 5 days per week for 4 months to kill the cancer & shrink the mass.
