Support Isabel's Journey to Her Bachelor's Degree

Hi, my name is Isabel Alvarez, and I live in New Jersey. I’m excited to share that I’m close to completing my associate degree in fall 2024 (December)! However, I have an outstanding balance of $2,000 that I need to pay off in order to graduate.

This degree means so much to me because it represents all the hard work, sacrifices, and determination I’ve poured into my education. Starting my journey as an ESL student, I faced numerous challenges—learning a new language, balancing work and school, and adapting to a completely new academic system. Despite these obstacles, I remained focused and worked tirelessly, step by step, to reach this milestone. Paying off this balance will not only allow me to graduate but also serve as a testament to how far I’ve come. It will give me the chance to move forward and pursue my bachelor’s degree in fall 2025, continuing my journey toward creating a brighter future for myself.

I’ve been fortunate to receive support along the way. Year Up helped me cover part of my tuition, and my college has awarded me several scholarships that have made it possible for me to stay enrolled and continue my education. These opportunities have motivated me to keep pushing forward and make the most out of every resource available to me.

I’m currently applying for more scholarships to continue my bachelor’s degree and achieve my dream of earning a higher degree. But right now, I need your help to take the next step.

During my time in college, I’ve worked hard and accomplished a lot:

-Earned two prestigious awards: Student Best Work Showcase and Academic Excellence in a learning community at HCCC.

-I’m a Dean’s List recipient, recognized for maintaining high academic standards.

-Represented my college at a Rutgers case competition, gaining real-world experience.

-Proud member of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), the international honor society for high-achieving students.

-Received the Impact Leader Award for my leadership contributions as part of the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS).

Awarded a Donor Scholarship for my academic excellence and dedication.

-Secured an internship with LinkedIn as a Global Strategy and Operations Intern, a dream I worked hard to achieve for over a year.

-Attended the HACU conference, representing my college and connecting with other motivated students and professionals.

This journey hasn’t been easy, but I’ve never given up. By supporting me, you’ll not only help me graduate but also help me stay on track to achieve my goals and make a better future for myself.
