Isabella Terry-Dobrovolska, a junior Film and Television student at NYU Tisch, is currently looking to raise funds for her upcoming experimental film project, Barbershop. The 10-minute film will explore themes of the perpetuation of violence against women through cycles of abuse, and the subconscious manifestation of repressed memories.
The film follows Tom, a Wall Street executive trapped in a barbershop by a mysterious barber (Karma). Tom is forced to confront the buried guilt of a brutal crime he committed against a woman years ago, as he faces the relentless, unbroken cycle of abuse and suffering inflicted upon women across generations by relentless male desires.
These themes remain perennially relevant, and we hope that our project will raise awareness about important women’s issues within the NYU community and beyond, particularly through evocative and experimental style.
The funds raised for this project will go towards essential parts of production, like feeding our hardworking student crew, renting important camera and grip equipment, and renting a stunning location for the barbershop. We would be so grateful for any contribution possible to help make this project happen, so any donors providing their names will be credited with a Special Thanks at the end of the film.
Thank you so much for your support!
