Hello kind souls, my name is Sofia Avila. I’m starting this GoFundMe page, encouraged by close friends and family, to help my little cousin and aunt who live in Colombia, go through a horrible situation.

On Monday, February 23rd, my cousin Isabela Avila (16 years old) had an accident that burned her face completely, arms, and upper part of the body in general. Some areas were severely burned, resulting in second and third-degree burns, necessitating intensive medical care and recovery.

She went to the upper level (third floor) of the house and was grabbing some of her dry clothes and accidentally touched a metal fence which was making contact with an electric post at the moment, and an explosion happened which burned her instantly. Doctors said she was lucky as she could have lost her vision, but it was a relief that that wasn’t the case. She has so far had 3 sessions of removing dead/burned skin, and they do it every two days. So she will be in the hospital for yet an undefined amount of sessions. And then after treatment, she will be at home.

My aunt (single mom of two) is currently struggling to keep her current job and is going through economic problems. Even though she is trying her best to keep up with the sessions and expenses.

Me and my mom are asking close friends, relatives, neighbors, and any kind person that wants to help my cousin and my aunt to be able to have financial resources and some kind of support and relief to be unconditionally there for my cousin through this difficult process.
