Support Isaac "Ikers" Rabe: A Young Warrior's Battle Against a Rare Infection

Isaac Rabe, known to his friends and family as "Ikers," is a young man whose passion for life is contagious. With an infectious energy, Ike's days are filled with soccer, basketball, surfing, skiing, dancing and laughter with his friends. His love for sports, his parents and his vibrant spirit have made him a beloved member of our Liberty Lake Community. But today, Ike is fighting a battle that he never saw coming, and he needs our support.

On June 10th, Ike was rushed to the hospital with an extremely rare bacterial infection of the skin that had aggressively spread to his left leg and right shoulder. The infection, which seeded into the fascial layer, required immediate and drastic medical intervention. Ike was rushed to surgery at Sacred Heart Medical Center Children's Hospital with Streptococcal Toxic Shock Syndrome, and subsequently admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit.

Over the next ten days, Ike endured nine surgeries to remove the infection from his skin and muscles. Despite the relentless efforts of his medical team and the extensive array of antibiotics, the infection continued to attack his body. In a critical turn of events, Ike was life-flighted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, WA, where he unfortunately underwent the amputation of his left leg. He remains in the pediatric intensive care unit, fighting for his life.

Ike's journey to recovery will be long and arduous, requiring intensive inpatient and outpatient therapy. The road ahead is fraught with challenges, but Ike's indomitable spirit and the love and support of his family and friends will be his guiding light. However, the financial burden of his medical treatments is overwhelming.

We are reaching out to our community and beyond asking for your help to rally around them during this incredibly difficult time. Your donations will go directly towards covering the significant medical expenses, therapies, prosthetics, home modifications for Ike, travel, lodging in Seattle, future surgeries, and loss of income that have and will continue to accumulate.
