Support Isaac Hodges' Brain Tumor Surgery and Recovery
Donation protected
Dear Family and Friends,
We’ve all faced significant changes in our lives, and during those times, the support of loved ones makes all the difference. Today, we reach out to you with heavy hearts to share the story of someone we deeply care about—Isaac Hodges.
Who is Isaac?
Isaac is a vibrant 27-year-old who recently moved to Austin, TX, to pursue a new job opportunity. In just nine months, he has worked diligently to lay the foundation for his future. Unfortunately, life took an unexpected turn 10-15 days ago when he suddenly lost hearing in his left ear. After visits to the ER and consultations with two specialists, it was determined that Isaac has a significant tumor located near his brain stem and in his left ear canal, which is the cause of his hearing loss.
Upcoming Surgery
Isaac is scheduled to undergo a complex 13-15 hour surgery the first week of March. The surgeons will do everything possible to remove the tumor completely. However, due to its size and location, there is a high likelihood of permanent hearing loss in his left ear, along with other serious risks, including the potential for life-threatening complications or permanent disabilities. While we are relieved to have clarity on his condition and remain hopeful for a positive outcome, the journey ahead is daunting. Additionally, Isaac will require additional surgeries related to the tumor removal, which are not included in the current estimated costs. Your donations will help alleviate the financial burden now and cover future medical expenses.
The Need for Support
Given the circumstances, Isaac will be unable to work for a minimum of three months following his surgery. Additionally, he will not be able to drive for at least six weeks, and this timeframe could extend depending on his post-surgery recovery and any complications that may arise. If the entire tumor cannot be removed, radiation therapy may also be necessary. Our family has opened this GoFundMe account for several critical reasons:
1. Insurance Limitations: Isaac does not have access to short-term or long-term disability insurance, as he has not been with his company for a full year.
2. Job Security: He does not qualify for FMLA, which means he won’t have job protection during his recovery. We hope to work with his employer to facilitate his return to the job he loves.
3. Initial Recovery Needs: Isaac will experience dizziness and balance issues during his recovery, necessitating family support either in his home or nearby.
4. Medical Costs and Living Expenses: The estimated cost of his surgery exceeds $500,000. While his health insurance will cover some of the surgery, without an income, Isaac will struggle to manage his medical and daily living expenses during recovery, which includes the possibility of additional surgeries, paying for his health insurance under COBRA, and possible permanent disability.
5. Medical Follow-Up: After the initial surgery, Isaac will need regular follow-ups with his medical team to monitor his recovery and address any complications that may arise.
How You Can Help
Many of you have reached out to offer support, and we are incredibly grateful. The estimated expenses for Isaac during his recovery are projected to total around $50,000 over three months. We understand that not everyone can donate to this cause, but we believe that even the smallest donations can add up to make a significant difference.
Request for Prayers
Beyond financial support, we humbly ask for your prayers. We will need strength, faith, and God's guidance during this difficult time. With our faith, your faith, and God's faithfulness, we believe Isaac will have the best outcome possible. Your support—whether through donations or prayers—means the world to us.
Thank you for considering this request. Your kindness and generosity are a testament to the love we share as a family and community. May God bless you all as we navigate this challenging journey together.
With heartfelt gratitude,
