Dear friends, family, and compassionate supporters,
Today, May 16, heaven gained a faithful soul. Irva Flemming-Swan, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and servant of God, passed away peacefully at the age of 74 after a long and courageous health battle.
Irva was a woman of strength, dignity, and quiet endurance. Born and raised in Grenada, she was a skilled seamstress who, at the age of 41, left her island home in search of a better life for her children. With courage in her heart and faith as her guide, she came to the United States and gave everything she had to provide opportunities for her family.
She suffered her first stroke at only 38 years old while still in Grenada. In the U.S., she later endured two more strokes and a heart attack before being diagnosed with congestive heart failure at 63. Though her body weakened, her spirit never did.
A devoted Seventh Day Adventist, Irva was passionate about sharing the love and sacrifice of Jesus. Even while battling chronic illness, she traversed the New York City transit system—tracts in hand, joy in her soul—ministering to strangers about salvation and hope. Her voice was a ministry in itself, especially when she sang her favorite hymn, “Hold Fast Till I Come.”
She was the loving mother of four children, survived by three, and cherished by three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Her dream was to return home to Grenada to live out her final days with her family, but her health needs required her to remain in the U.S., where she received round-the-clock care from her devoted son—her sole caregiver.
In the last several years, he gave everything—his time, energy, and finances—to care for her with love and honor. Today, we are asking for your help to carry this final burden and ensure Irva receives the dignified farewell she deserves.
We are raising funds to cover:
Funeral and burial arrangements
Memorial service to celebrate her faith-filled life
Basic transportation and logistical needs for family members
This is not just about covering costs—it’s about honoring a woman who poured herself out for others, who loved God with all her heart, and who leaves behind a legacy of resilience, faith, and love.
Whether you can give $5 or $500, every gift makes a difference. If you cannot donate at this time, we ask that you share this campaign and lift the family in your prayers.
With love and gratitude,
Ingrid Belle
