Hey everyone, as some of you may know I was diagnosed with CML leukemia on February 6, 2025. I took time to get used to my medications and returned back to work in April of last year. It had been a very hard journey, unfortunately my treatment wasn’t going well. My medications stopped working and I found myself sick all the time. Work became hard on me because I wasn’t able to complete tasks as fast as management wanted. I was sent to Stanford for a second opinion and was asked to switch to another medication. I started that medication and my health began to decline. Seeing that I wasn’t getting any better, my doctor wrote me a note that would take me out of work for a few months starting back in March and going until I could stabilize on my meds. I ended up in the hospital last week because my WBC had gotten to be extremely high and my doctor told me I was to be admitted. I was finally able to come home after 5 days. My doctor informed me that my best option from this standpoint is to have a bone marrow/stem cell transplant.
I had some money saved from working, but being in transition from going on sick leave and starting the paperwork for disability, I have used up most of the money I saved. I don’t know how long it will be to get on disability, but I was told because I’m young it’s going to be hard and most people typically get denied the first two times in applying. I hate to even ask, but I have no other options at the moment. If you find it in your heart to donate a couple of bucks my way, just know that I truly appreciate it and you. This has been such a very emotional rollercoaster and I wish I didn’t have to ask anyone for help, but right now I don’t know how I’m going to pay for my bills or transportation to get to and from my appointments.
