Our mom, Irma Arellano, was involved in a severe car accident on November 3, 2024.
An unlicensed driver, speeding over 40 mph, ran a stop sign and crashed directly into the side of her car. The impact was devastating and caused her to suffer a stroke. First responders, including firefighters and paramedics, worked urgently to extract her from the vehicle and rushed her to the emergency room.
Once there, doctors discovered a massive brain bleed that required her to be placed in a medically induced coma. We were then told she would be completely paralyzed on the left side of her body.
After two weeks in the coma, we began to see a glimmer of hope as she slowly started to regain consciousness. However, the past six months have been an emotional roller coaster—filled with emergency surgeries, insurance complications, facility issues, inconsistent care, and even the discovery of a thyroid mass that could potentially affect her breathing, especially now that she requires a tracheotomy.
Despite everything, our mom has been making steady progress. She still cannot walk and has limited mobility and speech, but her memory and sense of humor remain beautifully intact.
We continue to face financial burdens due to additional care costs that are not currently covered by insurance along side of still dealing with the repercussions—mentally, and physically, emotionally—from this accident that happened last year. The purpose of this fundraiser is to humbly reach out for help during this time.
We appreciate every bit of love and support. Thank you for standing with us as we continue to fight for our mom’s journey and bring her home.
