On Monday, June 24th, our dear friend, Iris Acevedo, experienced a horrific event that has left her to face a long road to recovery. One of her dogs, Beefy, who had a sad history of abuse and neglect before joining the family in 2021, attacked her. Despite her best efforts to manage his triggers, work with trainers, and provide him with a loving home, the dog’s past trauma led to an unexpected and brutal attack. Iris wants people to know this doesn’t villainize Beefy, and she is mourning him deeply.

While attempting to protect her senior dog, London, during a groundhog hunt in her yard, Iris was severely mauled. She was admitted on that Monday, 6/24/24, and had to undergo reconstructive surgery on Friday, and was discharged from the hospital on Saturday, 6/29. She will need additional surgery; her recovery will be a challenging journey, both physically and emotionally.

Iris is a proud business owner who devotes herself to helping others feel good about themselves through her permanent makeup and eyelash extension services at Ace Studio in Nutley. Unfortunately, she will be out of work for an unknown period while she heals. The funds raised through this campaign will help cover her business expenses, provide financial support during her recovery, ensure she has meals, and cover any additional support her family may need.
