Spende geschützt
Edit: It is with a heavy heart that we inform you of Iris' passing. Iris fought courageously against her battle with cancer. She was loved by so many and we will miss her every day. Our hearts are with her family and friends during this time. We will keep this Gofundme open to assist with funeral arrangements and other expenses her family has incurred. Please consider making a donation or sharing the link so we can support her family as much as we can xoxoxo
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
On December 30th, 2024, our dear friend and colleague, Iris Mercado, was hospitalized and shortly after diagnosed with metastasized ovarian cancer. Iris is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment and will continue to need treatment for at least the next several months (possibly ongoing thereafter). She may also require surgery.
Iris is currently not able to work and will be out until at least October 2025. Iris is currently insured; however, those benefits will eventually end as she is not able to return to work after her FMLA period (12 weeks). Like most of us, Iris and her family do not have the means to pay for this unexpected emergency and loss of income.
Iris is one of the most kind-hearted, thoughtful, and selfless people that you will ever have the pleasure to meet. She has dedicated her life to the care of others, working with individuals on the autism spectrum, and supporting their families for over 25 years. She has also served as a mentor throughout her career. Iris is the friend who will always give you her shoulder to cry on and will go above and beyond for the people she loves. A more beautiful soul has never existed.
Please spread the word and share this campaign! All funds will go to pay the medical bills and any shortfall in living expenses. We ask that you please consider donating, as any amount will help!
Thank you!
