Give Irem Hope in Her Fight Against Cancer

My name is Christopher, and my heart aches with a weight I never imagined I could bear. I’ve witnessed Irem, my wife, my rock, my everything, overcome mountains that would have crushed most. She’s a force of nature, a whirlwind of kindness, and the most amazing person I know.

We met in December 2002, remained friends for 12 years before we had our first date, a whirlwind romance born amidst a tumultuous time in my life where I had just conquered some serious health issues that bankrupted me. We married a year after our first date, a year and a day I told her mother at our first meeting I would marry her within a year because of her concern that she didn’t want someone to string her along like a previous relationship she had.

We had some ups & downs like every married couple, for 6 years we persevered.

Then came the diagnosis. Liver failure. The world tilted on its axis. We clung to each other, fear whispering insidious lies in our ears. The waiting list, the constant worry, the hope flickering precariously like a candle in the wind –

But Irem, with her unwavering spirit, refused to be defined by her illness. Even in her darkest days, she shone brighter than anyone I’ve ever known.

Then, the miracle happened. A donor. A second chance. The transplant was successful, and we dared to breathe again, to dream of a future filled with laughter and adventures. We repaid the kindness we’d received by volunteering at the transplant center, offering hope and support to other patients and their families.

For close to four glorious years, we lived that dream. We traveled, we laughed, we volunteered, we built a life filled with love and purpose. We thought we had outrun the darkness.

But the darkness is relentless.

A few days ago, the pain returned. This time, the diagnosis was crueler. Cancer, directly linked to the immunosuppressant drugs she needed after the transplant. The very medicine that saved her life was now slowly stealing it away.

The doctors are doing everything they can. Still, she dreams of a future where she can continue to make a difference.

Now, the bills are piling up. The chemotherapy to come, the hospital stays, the constant medical attention - it’s draining us financially. We used up our savings during the transplant, and I’ve been struggling to balance work with caring for her.

Irem has given so much to the world, asking for nothing in return. She has touched countless lives with her kindness and generosity. She is a beacon of hope in a world that often feels bleak.

Now, she needs help.

It's with a heavy heart and a desperate plea that I've created this GoFundMe. I'm asking for any help you can offer, however small. Every pound, every dollar, will go towards easing the financial burden, allowing me to focus on being there for Irem, to hold her hand and remind her that she is loved, cherished, and never, ever alone.

Please help me give Irem the peace of mind she deserves, so she can focus on fighting this battle with the same unwavering spirit she has always shown. Please help me give her a chance to keep shining her light in the world.

We will be using these funds to cover living expenses because I will be limited in my ability to work, & co pays, medication, that insurance doesn’t cover

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for reading our story. Thank you for considering helping Irem. Your kindness will mean the world to us.
