Hello, my name is Shaghayegh, and I am an Iranian international animation student studying at the University of Hertfordshire in the UK.
Due to the USA/Israel-Iran war, I am currently facing a serious financial situation that threatens my ability to remain in stable housing while finishing my degree.
The ongoing war is affecting my home country and the financial sanctions that severely restrict international transfers, my financial situation has become extremely difficult to manage. As a result, I have been struggling to meet the costs of my university accommodation.
I have already tried many options to resolve this situation. I contacted university financial services and student support teams, requested payment plans, applied for hardship funding, and am actively searching for a second job. While I did receive a small hardship grant, it unfortunately covers only a very small portion of the balance, only about 1/15th!
If I cannot resolve this situation, I may lose access to university accommodation for the coming year, which would put my ability to continue my studies at risk.
I came to the UK to pursue my dream of becoming an animator and filmmaker. My final-year animation project, “Arash the Archer,” has already been submitted to multiple international film festivals, and completing my degree is incredibly important for my future.
Any support, no matter how small, would help me stay housed and continue my education during an extremely difficult time.
If you are unable to donate, sharing this campaign would also mean a great deal.
Thank you very much for reading and for any support you can offer.
