Support Ira & Linda in Their Time of Need

Hi—I’m Linda Saper. My husband of almost 30 years, Ira Saper, is on life support in an Austin ICU. He had been weak and unwell, but had committed to getting stronger by completing a month of in-patient rehab in July. Doing a little better, he came home, where we recently celebrated his 75th birthday on July 25th.

Because of my own unexpected medical issues, I was unable to adequately manage his at-home care. Consequently, we decided it would be best for both of us to re-enter an advanced rehab the next day. Sadly, he “coded” the first night he was there. He had to be put on a ventilator providing life support.

His doctors are doing all they can, but almost 3 weeks later, he could not sustain removal of the ventilator. His chances of a meaningful recovery, doctors say, are slim. His kidney function is getting worse and he would not be a candidate for dialysis.

We take each day, one at a time, and pray. .

Like many, we did not adequately plan or save for final expenses. We have no funds to pay these expenses, nor do we have any assets to sell. Can you help?

Ira has been a wonderful husband and father, and a friend to all. He has brought love, joy and laughter to my life—and to everyone that’s known him.
