Hello lovelies! My name is Ingrid Ennis; I’m a 27-year-old trans woman from Columbus, Ohio. I’ve been physically transitioning for around a year and a half, and in three short weeks, I’ll be heading to Cleveland to have an orchiectomy!
This surgery will drastically decrease the amount of testosterone produced in my body and allow me to get off the medication that currently does that for me. Also, it will help me feel more at home and confident in my body. Gender-affirming surgeries also benefit the mental health of those who undergo them.
I’m insured through my employer, and insurance is covering some of the cost of the operation. This fundraiser will help offset my out-of-pocket cost of the surgery. I will have family members taking care of me afterward, so some additional donations after my goal is met will allow me to thank them with a nice dinner or something.
I will be taking at least two weeks off work and will be returning to work with lifting restrictions. FMLA will pay me 60% of my wage while I’m out, which is better than nothing, but I’m hoping to make my living expenses a little easier to cover with this fundraiser too, at least until I get back to work full-time.
Aside from some medical debt from earlier this year, I’m doing okay financially, but I decided to make this fundraiser anyway to offset expenses I will have from this surgery. If donations reach past the starting goal, they’ll go towards some past medical expenses, too.
Any and all donations are greatly appreciated. Even if you can’t give much, I appreciate you. Please share this as well so more people can see it! I love you all.
