Support Indigenous Land-based Healing

Tax deductible

The building of the ceremonial structures is integrated into the healing that the structures will provide. In July, a building team made up of Indigenous adults and youth will visit the land three times over a 2-day period. During the day the group will work together to build the ceremonial structures on the land with Elders supporting and providing teachings and ceremonies in the evenings.

Then, later in August the Clan Mothers Healing Village will host another healing retreat for women, girls and 2SLGBTQQIA led by Grandmother Elder teachings with rites of passage, sweat lodge ceremonies, moon lodge ceremonies and sharing of traditional Knowledge. This retreat will last 4 days and 4 nights.

Funds raised will be used to pay --- for all materials required for the summer retreats.

Message from our Grandmother Council:

“Despite today’s trying times, you must always remember that all of you belong to our One Human Tribe. You are worthy and loved, in the spirit of our Beloved Mother Earth, who calls women to gather. Many of our sisters, mothers, daughters and aunties are being lost to a system that has broken the spine of our community: our Mothers “Life-Givers”. We need the Mothers of our children to come Back Home, in order for our communities to heal. We the Grandmothers and Leaders, know that change will come through supporting one another in the Spirit of Love. Help us on our Journey back home.”

The land heals, and plays a central role in physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. Ceremony is also an essential part of Indigenous healing. Traditional healing ceremonies promote wellness by reflecting Native conceptions of Spirit, Creator, and the Universe. Because physical and spiritual health are intimately connected, body and spirit must heal together. The poor mental health outcomes across Indigenous communities in Canada is a direct result of these harmful colonial practices, including and especially, breaking the intimate relationships with the land.
