Finishing Funds for Indigenous Comedy "Good Daze"
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jonelle Belcourt, and I’m a Cree filmmaker passionate about telling Indigenous stories that celebrate joy, friendship, and adventure. My latest short film, Good Daze, is a heartfelt stoner comedy-drama that follows two Indigenous teenagers on a quest for excitement, capturing the magic of youth, self-discovery, and community.
This project is deeply personal to me. Too often, Indigenous stories in film focus on trauma, but Good Daze offers something different—an honest, funny, and uplifting story that highlights the everyday experiences of Indigenous youth, infused with elements of Indigenous Futurism. It’s a celebration of friendship, freedom, and the possibility of something greater just beyond the horizon.
We’re so close to finishing this film, but we need your help to cross the finish line!
Why We Need Your Support
I’ll be attending imagineNATIVE as part of the Screenwriting Features Lab to pitch the feature length version of Good Daze. Having the short film complete and ready to showcase would be an incredible opportunity to connect with potential collaborators, industry professionals, and future supporters of the feature film.
However, securing finishing funds has been more challenging than expected, and we need additional support to complete post-production, editing, sound design, colour correction, and final touches that will bring the story to life. Without these final steps, we risk missing this critical opportunity to share the film at its best.
How You Can Help
Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference. Your support will go directly toward:
Editing & Sound Design – Ensuring the film looks and sounds its best
Colour Correction – Bringing the visual style to life
Music Licensing – Securing the perfect soundtrack to enhance the story
Festival Submission Fees & Distribution – Getting Good Daze seen by wider audiences
Paying Our Post-Production Team – Supporting the talented artists working behind the scenes
Film making is a collaborative effort, and we believe in fairly compensating the incredible editors, sound designers, and colourists who are bringing Good Daze to life. Your support will not only help finish the film but will also ensure that the artists working on it are properly paid for their time and talent.
Even if you’re unable to donate, you can still help by sharing this campaign with your friends, family, and networks. Every share brings us one step closer to reaching our goal!
Join Us on This Journey
