DanceWorks Helsinki is an independent contemporary ballet company founded by young Finnish artists who wanted to create new possibilities for dance in Finland.
We believe world-class ballet and contemporary dance can be created outside traditional institutions — through community, artistic ambition and a deep love for the art form.
Over the past year, we have independently produced new contemporary ballet works, employed Finnish dancers and artists, organised performances, classes and open rehearsals, and built a growing artistic community in Helsinki.
Behind every performance are long rehearsal days, studio rentals, costumes, music, technical work and countless unseen hours of labour. Independent dance is built collectively, and every contribution genuinely matters.
By supporting DanceWorks Helsinki, you are directly supporting dancers, choreographers and the future of independent contemporary ballet in Finland.
Your support helps us:
— pay dancers and artists fairly
— create new productions
— fund rehearsal spaces and costumes
— keep contemporary ballet alive and accessible in Helsinki
We want to build a healthier, more sustainable and artist-led future for dance — one where artists have space not only to perform, but to create, experiment and grow.
Thank you for helping us continue this work.
