I am playwright and director, KYLEE Q ROBINSON, and I’m raising funds to produce an original full-length stage play called, In the Beginning at the Hollywood Fringe Festival, June 11-28, 2026.
God’s world is perfect, then Eve lives. In the Beginning explores Eve, the first woman's untold story to define personal purpose, conquer the pursuit of knowledge, overcome a life cursed with grief, and find grace in personal resurrection. God's perfect world seems too perfect to His second child, and Eve questions her Father’s goodness for allowing bad in a perfect world, among many of His other rules for humanity. From childlike whimsy in the Garden to sobering maturity in the Desert, Eve and Adam discover what it takes to be a good human in God's perfect world. Through hand puppets, cosmic family comedy, and heartfelt inquiry, the play reframes Eve not as the source of sin, but as a symbol of human agency, resilience, and the beginning of our shared story.
WHY DO WE NEED THE PLAY RIGHT NOW?
We are living in a moment when people are re-examining the narratives that shaped our cultures, our identities, and our assumptions about gender. Eve is one of the most iconic women in the collective imagination, yet her redacted story has been filtered through centuries of interpretation: a cautionary tale, a result of temptation, a blame-bearer. In the Beginning offers a counter-narrative, one that honors Eve’s humanity and gives audiences a new lens on faith and womanhood.
The play examines questions many women face across their lives: insecurity, fertility, mental health, marriage, parenthood, loss, and the search for purpose. If Eve had no mother, grandmother, or sister to guide her, what did she learn on her own? She must have had questions, concerns, her own wants and needs, and there must have been hard and confusing chapters to navigate.
In the Beginning is designed to spark conversations, uplift marginalized voices, make Scripture accessible to both believers and non-believers, and to remind audiences that God meets His children right where they are: confused, curious, and deeply loved.

I personally sympathize as a supportive friend with a scrappy budget. The world’s economy is out of control, so I am totally aware how serious it is to ask someone for money who may not have any to give. Money should never stop art from being made or being supported. If you cannot financially back this production, please share this link and a heartfelt message with backers you trust to help finance the show. This show can only be seen by those that KNOW it is happening!
ABOUT THE PLAY
The play is a 90-min reflective exploration of the human condition and how we were created to make this sometimes-bad world better.
For those that don’t know me, I am a hustling, hard-working mother of two with a mission to make her artistic mark. This is a low-budget production endeavor. I recently achieved my Master of Fine Art in Theater and rely 100% on grants, gifts, and donations to self-produce work. Even if I cannot reach my financial goal through crowdfunding, the following costs and breakdowns must be paid one way or another for In the Beginning to hit the stage. I can only produce In the Beginning with the love and support of my friends, family, and fellow artists and art lovers.
A staged reading of In the Beginning was presented at California State University, Los Angeles in October 2024 as Kylee Q's MFA Culminating Project. It was directed by Diana Wyenn, and featured Shyanne Benjamin, Ryan Michael Dunn, and Corbin Mongolo. The piece has evolved since then, and Q is eager to share with you how its grown.
Spectrum magazine interviewed Q about the play in 2024. You can find that article here:
