Support in the Battle Against Cancer

In 2021, Kira Bahl (27 years) was first diagnosed with HPV Type 45-associated vocal cord cancer. After two challenging surgeries, it seemed that the disease had been defeated. However, the journey was not easy: Two years later, further surgeries were needed due to shortness of breath, caused by scar tissue formation from the previous surgeries.

One of the most painful consequences of the surgery was the loss of her voice. She says, “I felt the pain of not being able to share myself, to not feel heard, to feel separated.” This experience has been deeply challenging, but despite the vulnerability it brings, Kira is courageously sharing it with us, to make visible that we all have our scars and imperfections. She shares a profound message: to listen to the inner voice and speak up for others—and for the Earth—especially for those whose voices have been silenced. Her pain became her greatest gift and teacher, guiding her to transform her voice into art. Through music and creative expression, she gives voice to the Earth, who so often goes unheard. She walks in deep prayer—rooted in her medicine path and devoted to restoring our bond with the natural world. Through her project, “Earth Healing Cooperation”, she creates a platform for events, music, and art that foster reconnection with nature.

In February 2025, the devastating news came: the cancer had returned, and more treatments and surgeries are now necessary.

Recently, her condition has worsened significantly. Kira was admitted to Charité Hospital in Berlin, one of Europe's leading medical institutions, because she could no longer breathe properly. She currently has only 3mm of airway space, compared to the normal 30mm. Over the next three weeks, she will undergo intensive treatment and receive a special machine to support her breathing.

Because of this urgent situation, Kira can no longer travel to MD Anderson in Houston as initially planned. One of the world’s leading institutions dedicated to cancer patient care, research, education, and prevention.

Her focus must now remain on the critical treatments she is receiving in Berlin. Her treatment must now continue in Germany.
