Causby Ann Challacombe, CAE, age 47, passed away peacefully at her home in North Carolina on November 18, 2025.

Born on December 23, 1977, Causby lived a vibrant, passionate life deeply committed to the people she served. Raised in Frederick, Oklahoma, she excelled as both a writer and a student-athlete, graduating from Frederick High School with the Class of 1996 before earning her Communications degree from Cameron University.

For 25 years, Causby built an exceptional career in Marketing and Association Management, bringing her talent and heart to several industries. Her work touched the music, insurance, retail, and automobile dealer communities before she found her most recent home as the Director of Membership for the American Fence Association.

At AFA, Causby played a pivotal role in strengthening the organization’s approach to membership development and engagement. She elevated member communications, championed initiatives that aligned programs with member needs, and brought a steady, thoughtful voice to the association’s strategic direction. She was a remarkable colleague—serving as a peer mentor to her teammates, a trusted advisor to leadership, and an insightful thought partner to the volunteers she supported. Her warmth, humor, and professionalism shaped AFA’s culture in meaningful, lasting ways.

Beyond her work at AFA, Causby was deeply committed to the broader association profession. She proudly earned her Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation and served as a longtime volunteer with ASAE: The Center for Association Leadership. Her service included roles as Chair of the Workforce Development Committee, Gold Circle Awards Judge, and member of the Membership Professionals Advisory Council. Her contributions reflected both her expertise and her belief in the power of associations to strengthen industries and elevate people.

Causby loved life deeply and poured her whole heart into everything she did. Those who knew her remember someone who led with kindness, uplifted every community she joined, and brought humor, joy, and humanity to her work and relationships. Her legacy of service, mentorship, and compassion will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all she touched.

She is preceded in death by her father, Thomas Challacombe Jr., and her mother, Brenda Sue Challacombe, both of Frederick, Oklahoma.

Causby is survived by her loving wife of 17 years, Chenoa Daniel; her brother, Jonrob Challacombe of Sebastian, Florida; her nephew, Emilio Challacombe, and niece, Sophia Challacombe of Vero Beach, Florida. She is also survived by “The Seven,” her cherished best friends of more than four decades—Kelli Hester, Jenny Bell, Brooke Lacy, Becky Sherman, Jennifer Holland, and Kelly Whitworth—along with many treasured friends, colleagues, and extended family who will miss her dearly.
