Arneta Rose Adkins also known as Nana. She wasn’t my grandma by blood, but she might as well have been. She is my sister in law (Heather)’s mom. She was the best chef I’ve known. This holiday will not be the same without her. My first fond memory of her was me as a little kid seeing her in the kitchen basting the turkey, the smell of spices and coffee at 4 o’clock in the morning. The person who introduced me and my sister to what holiday spirit is. She would catch me in the fridge picking on the food before dinner, shushing me away but not without a little snack to munch on. This went on every years. She would have feed anyone. Her doors were open to anyone hungry. She was a hard working single mom that was a mom to any one that needed a mom to just listen or lean on.

Our family is asking for your support to give Nana the small intimate farewell she deserves. So was never the type to want something big and fancy. As taking care of Nana was my sister’s main source of income and with it being the holidays it’s going to be hard for them to grieve and worry about the financial situation as well and with the government shut down makes it very difficult.
