Support in Loving Memory of Dee Nino de Rivera

It breaks my heart to share the news that on August 26th, 2019 my mom, Dee Nino de Rivera, passed away unexpectedly. She was, and still is, a cherished community member, friend, sister, and above all, fiercely loving mother. My mom was gifted with wit, humor, intelligence, kindness, a “Do no harm, but take no sh*t,” attitude, and the most beautiful heart with the capacity to love unconditionally. The perfect blend of softness and strength. She is the resilient, independent woman I aspire to be every day of my life.
She spent her whole life doing everything she possibly could to make sure my brother and I had the means to find ourselves and follow our dreams. I could spend literal hours talking about how incredible of a mom she is, but in the spirit of her, I’ll stop here and keep this simple and sweet (just like she likes it).
As hard as this is for me to ask others for financial favors, I set up this GoFundMe because my brother and I are now faced with unexpected expenses that we hadn’t prepared for yet, thinking we had plenty more time with her. Being so young, neither of us have sufficient savings to cover all of the costs. So, if you feel compelled and are in a position to help in this way, we would greatly appreciate all the support we can get. All the funds will be used to pay for expenses related to the death care services (of which we are still unsure how much this will be), a memorial service, and any other unforeseen bills in the wake of my mom’s passing.
