We are Angelica Medina and Jahaira Fajardo, co-founders of In Lak’ech Dance Academy and the Queer Afro Latin Dance Festival (QALDF). Our mission is to create an inclusive, vibrant space where the LGBTQ+ community can celebrate Afro-Latin dance and culture. We believe in the power of dance to bring people together, heal, and uplift.

This past year, we celebrated our 6th annual QALDF, a joyous event that brought together queer and trans Afro-Latin dancers from around the world. The festival was a testament to our community’s strength and resilience. Additionally, we’ve taken on the exciting challenge of opening a brand new dance studio, a place where our community can continue to learn, grow, and connect.

However, the financial demands of these endeavors have been significant, and we need your support to continue our work. We are launching this GoFundMe campaign to raise $75,000 to cover QALDF bills and the overhead costs of our new studio. Your support is crucial for us to keep our doors open and our mission alive.
