When mom passed, it wasn't unexpected. She'd been battling cancer for over 4 years, with many rounds of chemo and radiation. They had originally only given her 6 months, but she made it 4 years! She had the money saved for a nice funeral and a headstone, but it was stolen the day she died. I paid for her funeral by getting multiple loans with very little help. It's been 5 years, and I haven't been able to get a headstone. She does have her favorite bear marking her grave, but I know she would want an actual stone. We talked about it many times; she'd joke about having it shaped like an elephant. If you knew mom, you know she loved her elephants. At this point, I would just like her to have something to place next to dad. She was a loving, caring woman, mom, and bopbop that would give the shirt off her back to anyone who needed it. Let's get her a headstone. I know I set the limit high; all remaining proceeds after hers is purchased will go towards another family member that doesn't have a stone either. I know in my heart that's what she would want.
