Support for Art School

Hello,

My name is Malique I am raising money to help cover the cost of living during my studies at Pacific Nortwest College of Art.

Going to art school has been a goal of mine since I was in high school. Unfortunately it has always been too expensive for me; with the cost of tuition, relocating, and cost of living together. I have not given up on achieving this goal. Being mostly self taught artist and fully self taught in photography, going to art school has been my dream so I can learn and understand the technical side of the arts. Allowing me the ability to fully dive into my craft and work on my ideas and concepts. I will be majoring in Photography while taking courses to improve my skills in digital media & communication, drawing, and multi media arts.

Shortly after I originally applied to PNCA I was let go from my previous job, limiting the funds I was able to save while planning to attend PNCA for this Fall of 2023. I did not give up on the idea of attending, but changed my plan to attend in Fall of 2024. This May I received notice of my acceptance and a scholarship award packet, and after completing the FAFSA and seeing Tuition being covered I again began to shift focus to make this work for Fall of 2023. I am still working; I start my new job soon, as well as doing photograhy, dog training, and painting to continue to earn as much money as I can. I am also working to find work for when I am in Portland, primarily photography jobs so I can focus on schooling during the week. While I can and will do everything I can to provide for myself, I still need help to achieve this dream.

The cost I need to cover that are not included in tuition are:

Dorm Room - $11,650.00

Food - $4,000.00

Books - $1,358.00

Creating art has been the one way that I can make sense of everything. I am able to express myself and tell stories, and connect with people on such intimate levels I don't always get to when having an everyday conversation. I truly believe my purpose in life is to use art to touch the lives of others.
