Hi, my name is Imogen, and I am a nursing student in the Central Wheatbelt of Western Australia. I am passionate about becoming a nurse, and eventually a midwife, so I can give back to the rural communities that raised me.
However, the financial burden of my training has created challenges I can no longer manage alone.
For my studies, I currently travel over 400 km each day to attend TAFE, a 2-hour trip each way. With fuel prices and the necessity to attend classes 3–4 days per week, I am spending around $80 per day on fuel alone.
Unfortunately, these costs have prevented me from studying full-time and have limited my ability to pick up regular work. Living in a small rural town also means job opportunities are scarce, and long travel hours severely cut into my study time and well-being.
Recently, a former neighbour reached out after hearing my story and offered to sell me a caravan perfectly suited to my needs. This would allow me to stay just 10 minutes from TAFE for multiple days at a time, dramatically reducing travel demands, fuel costs, and the risks of driving long distances in regional WA—especially at dawn and dusk when kangaroos are common on the roads.
This caravan would give me:
• More time for study and rest
• Reduced financial pressure
• A safer and more stable weekly routine
• The ability to continue pursuing my dream
To make this possible, I am seeking to raise $7,000 to purchase the caravan. Any contribution, no matter the size, would mean the world to me and bring me one step closer to becoming a qualified nurse and, one day, a midwife serving rural WA.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story, and thank you in advance for any support you can offer. Your generosity will genuinely change the outcome of my education and my future.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
— Imogen
