Hi! I’m Imogen Gatewood-Wolfe, and I am so excited that I’ve been chosen to represent Team USA in the U20 World Junior Ultimate Championships in Spain this coming summer!
About the Team
Nearly 500 players submitted applications to be considered for Team USA. From those, the USA coaches selected just over 200 players to be invited to tryout. From this group, three teams were formed:
24 players for the men’s team
24 players for the women’s team
24 players for the mixed team
I am going to be playing on the mixed gender team, and we are heading into this year’s games to defend the US world championship title. Our division is the only one that has men and women playing together on the field, and it is my very favorite way to play ultimate.
A Little About Me
I am 16 years old and am simultaneously finishing up high school while taking a full load of courses at a local college. I’m majoring in psychology and cognitive science, and my goal is to transfer to a four year university as a junior when I’m 18.
I started playing ultimate frisbee in earnest as an 8th grader and have played in the U17 girls, U17 open, and U20 mixed divisions for Youth Club Championships. I love my high school mixed and girls teams and am honored to serve as a captain on both. I also play competitively over the winter and hope to play at the adult club level this summer.
While frisbee takes up most of my time, I actually do have several other interests. I’ve been dancing since I was 18 months old, and I love art and make time to draw whenever I can. I also do Shakespearean theater and have been in several professional productions over the last couple years. Any other free time I have is spent with my little sister and older brother (who also happens to be one of my frisbee coaches).
Can you help be a part of making my dream come true?
Making this team is truly a dream come true. But, it turns out that dreams can be really expensive: there are team trainings, travel expenses, coaching costs, and various other financial obligations associated with being on the team.
I would be so grateful for any donation you can make, big or small. Any contribution will go directly to my travel, accommodations, and other tournament-related expenses.
And even if you can’t contribute financially, sharing this page with your network would mean so much to me.
Thank you for supporting me on this incredible adventure!
