I am an Hispanic immigrant who proudly became a citizen of the United States when my daughter was born. From that moment, I knew this country was my home forever. Today, my community is facing an incredibly difficult situation. In Minnesota, many immigrant families are struggling to make ends meet. The current climate has made it risky for immigrants to leave their homes for work, and some have had their main income earners detained. This has left families unable to pay for basic necessities like utilities, rent, mortgage, and other bills. With winter upon us, the risk for entire families, including children, to end up in a very bad situation is real and urgent.

I have seen firsthand how these challenges weigh on families who are simply trying to stay safe and provide for their loved ones. The stress and uncertainty are overwhelming, and many are worried about losing their homes or being unable to keep their children warm and fed. As someone who has walked a similar path, I feel a deep responsibility to help my community in any way I can.
