The Illinois Climbing Team recently competed at a Collegiate National Qualifier event in Peoria, IL, where 14 of our members qualified for Nationals in Salt Lake City from May 2nd–5th! This is a huge milestone for us—especially considering that over the past two years, we only sent two and then four competitors to Nationals, respectively.

Unfortunately, the cost of attending is a major barrier. Registration alone is $280 per person, not including travel and lodging. For many students, these expenses make it difficult to participate in this amazing opportunity.

Competing at Nationals gives our athletes the chance to represent Illinois on a national stage, and it brings more visibility to collegiate climbing—something that can help us advocate for better climbing facilities on campus.
