Ilene, my partner, is facing an unimaginable loss after her mother Sonia passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026. In November 2025, Sonia was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer and bravely underwent months of chemotherapy. Despite her strength, she developed the flu and pneumonia, which unfortunately went undetected by the doctor’s office. On Saturday, April 11, 2026, Sonia slipped into a coma and was taken into the ICU. After doing everything possible, she was not able to pull through, leaving Ilene with the tragic and sudden loss of her mother.


Along with her grief, Ilene has been left with overwhelming financial responsibilities. The water and power bill, which had not been paid during Sonia’s illness, has now been placed on Ilene’s shoulders. She is also facing mortgage payments and the costs of funeral arrangements, all while trying to navigate this difficult time.


Donations to this fundraiser will go directly to helping Ilene pay the overdue water and power bill and cover funeral expenses.
