Ikkyu is currently bedridden. He is my ex-boyfriend — yes, my ex — and for the past five months, I’ve been by his side as his full-time caregiver.

We broke up last October. Just eight days later, he suddenly became critically ill. He suffered seizures and his brain was deprived of oxygen for an extended period of time, resulting in more than 70% brain damage.

For the past five months, I have been caring for him 24/7.

We are now trying stem cell treatment and brain stimulation therapy in hopes of improving his condition. These treatments are incredibly expensive, but I want to do everything I can to give him the best chance possible.

I’m helping him not because of a title or a label — but because of love, compassion, and the bond we once shared. Even if I am now “just the ex,” the care and humanity between us did not disappear.
