For the past 5 years, my service dog Congo has been more than just a companion, he' has been my lifeline. Now it is time for Congo to retire and I need your help paying for my next fully trained service dog.

I'm Iisha Morrison, a retired disabled veteran living with a condition that affects my nerve function. Without Congo, simple tasks like walking across a room or picking up dropped items become dangerous challenges. Congo has prevented countless falls, stabilized me when my balance fails, and given me the independence I fought to protect as a servicemember.

Now, I'm facing a challenge and I need your help.

Congo is turning 11 in May. While he was specially bred for mobility work, I can see the toll it's taking on his aging joints and have been advised by my veterinarian to retire him from service work. Every time he braces my weight, I know I'm asking too much of him. He's earned his retirement, and I refuse to sacrifice his comfort and health.

The reality: A fully-trained service dog costs thousands of dollars, and I'm facing this expense on my own because I do not have time to be placed on a 2 year wait list for a service dog . But without a successor to Congo very soon, I'll lose my ability to move safely through my own home.
