On what should have been an ordinary day, 32-year-old Iesha Parr, the devoted mother to two beautiful children, ages 7 and 11, became the victim of an unthinkable act of violence at the hands of her ex-boyfriend — a man who refused to ‘let go’ and instead chose to escalate a pattern of violent behavior into a near-fatal attack.
Earlier this year Iesha was assaulted by her ex-boyfriend. Iesha did everything she could legally do at that time. She reported it to police, pressed charges against him, & obtained a protection order through the courts. Shortly thereafter, she started to move on with her life & met her current boyfriend. When her ex-boyfriend found out that she was seeing someone else, he began to harass & stalk her, violating the protection order. He then found out who her new boyfriend was & began texting him, stalking him, contacting his family members, and vandalizing his vehicles & property on multiple occasions, as well as vandalizing Iesha’s vehicle. Every time this occurred, a police report was made. In June, her ex was finally charged with violating the protection order & was arrested. The judge released him on bond & ordered a GPS ankle monitor be placed on him.
On Sunday morning, July 15th at 6:30am, after spending the night at her current boyfriend’s home, Iesha was driving home when she was ambushed on the roadway and shot. Her car was riddled with multiple bullets, with one striking her in the head. While out on bond, the same man who once claimed to love her, had shattered her sense of safety & tried to take her life. In a desperate act of courage and survival, motivated only by the thoughts of her children, Iesha managed to remain conscious & escape the scene by ramming her car into her attacker’s truck and then driving herself to the nearest police station for help — injured, terrified, covered in blood, and unable to call 911, because after shooting her, he reached into her car & took Iesha’s phone from her.
Iesha was rushed to the hospital & underwent surgery to remove the bullet fragments from her brain, with the neurosurgeon stating afterwards that he “didn’t know how she was alive” after suffering that type of injury.
Iesha is expected to recover. Her physical recovery will take time. Her emotional and psychological healing may take a lifetime.
We want to alleviate any stress possible so that Iesha’s full attention & energy can be focused on healing, not only herself, but her children as well. Her car is totaled, her children start school next month, and as a single mother, she is naturally concerned about these things.
We are asking for your help.
Once Iesha is released from the hospital, funds raised will go directly toward:
• A reliable vehicle to help her safely rebuild her independence
• Medical & mental health care and trauma counseling
• Costs associated with traveling back & forth to ongoing medical appointments
• Basic needs for her and her children as they navigate this painful and uncertain time.
No one should ever have to fight for their life at the hands of someone who once claimed to care for them. Iesha is a survivor, but she shouldn’t have to face this road to recovery alone. She has a long road ahead of her, not only physically & emotionally, but navigating the judicial system through this tedious legal process. Her ex, Carl Reynolds, has been arrested and charged with Attempted Aggravated Murder, Felonious Assault, Violating a Protection Order, Aggravated Menacing by Stalking, and Retaliation.
Your support — whether through a donation, a prayer, a share, or a kind word — means more than you know. Every little bit helps and will be immensely appreciated.
Let’s stand with Iesha. Let’s help her heal. Let’s show her that she is not alone.
Thank you for your love, your strength, and your solidarity.
