Support Dylan and Fiancé After Devastating Fire
Donation protected
Hi, while I was home resting after an exhausting day at work, the unimaginable happened. I suddenly smelled a strong odor of smoke and quickly alerted my fiancé. When we went to determine the source of the smell, we were over overcome by thick, black smoke. The remaining parts of our home were engulfed in flames, but we were able to escape with our lives. Everything that me and my fiancé have worked hard to accumulate over the years was lost in the fire that was later determined to be caused by defective electrical components through no fault of our own. Currently, we are working very hard to get back on our feet one day at a time. The Red Cross being dispatched to the scene to provide assistance gave us hope. However, the two Red Cross representatives who came onsite to help us refused to provide assistance to us because they informed us that the address on our driver’s licenses must match the address of the catastrophe in order to receive assistance. We actually had not yet gotten around to updating our address on our driver’s licenses, nor did we ever think that it would be a determinant of someone in need receiving assistance during a disaster-when we are in our most vulnerable state. It was both disappointing and hurtful. Right now, we are unhoused and are attempting to rebuild day by day, but are struggling to gain traction. We are grateful that we didn’t lose our lives, but we have to be honest that we are also struggling to recover. We never reach out to ask for help even when we have faced the toughest challenges, but this time is different and we are desperately asking for help. We are just a young, hardworking couple working very hard to build a life for ourselves and would deeply appreciate your support right now. Please donate if you can. Anything is something and we are forever grateful. Thank you.
Anything donated would go towards a security deposit for a new house or apartment, along with money we get from work. Any money would also go towards home appliances, furniture, and a bed.
