Support Ian & Kaitlyn Geer as Ian Faces a Sudden and Serious Cancer Diagnosis

On Wednesday, December 10th, Ian and his wife Kaitlyn went to the ER thinking he was dealing with a severe asthma issue. He had been struggling with breathing problems for weeks, and they hoped doctors would find a simple explanation.

Instead, tests revealed two significant masses in his chest along with a large amount of fluid affecting his lungs. His breathing became increasingly difficult, and Ian has been sedated and on a ventilator since December 10th to help support his lungs while doctors work to stabilize him.

Ian has undergone several biopsies, but due to the complexity of the case, doctors are still working to confirm the exact type of cancer. At this time, they believe it may be germ cell cancer, and they are moving quickly to get him the right treatment.

Because of the seriousness of his condition, Ian was transferred from Kettering Main Campus to OSU Hospital, where he can receive more specialized and aggressive care. The last several days have been filled with procedures, tests, and uncertainty, and Ian continues to fight through significant challenges with courage and strength.

Who Ian Is
If you know Ian, you know he is kind, loyal, hardworking, and always willing to help. A 2011 graduate of Troy High School, Ian has dedicated his life to serving others. He worked for the Tipp City Fire Department before joining the Butler Township Fire Department, proudly serving his community as a firefighter. He’s the kind of person who shows up for anyone in need — and now he needs all of us to show up for him.

How This Has Affected Their Family
Ian’s wife, Kaitlyn (Houck) Geer, has been at the hospital with him every step of the way. She has had to miss work, manage long drives back and forth, and handle the emotional weight of everything happening so quickly. With unexpected medical challenges, travel expenses, and lost income, the financial strain has become overwhelming on top of an already devastating situation.
