Dear friends, family, and kind supporters,
I am writing on behalf of my friend, Abby and her children Beckett, Margot, and Pippa, whose husband and father Ian is bravely battling glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer.
Ian has always lived life with heart and hustle. Whether he's on the field or court coaching or cheering from the sideline, he brings energy, passion and integrity to everything he does. He's the kind of person who lifts up those around him with encouragement, a quick joke or euphemism and relentless support.
The devastating glioblastoma diagnosis was sudden and life-changing. After months of treatments, doctor's visits, and a long hospital stay, Ian's condition now requires specialized in-home care. The doctors anticipate Ian will be released home in a week for the first time in 4 months and will require 24/7 care that costs thousands of dollars a month. This is essential to keep him safe, comfortable, and surrounded by the love of his family during this very difficult journey. Unfortunately, the costs of medical support and home health care are far beyond what their family can manage on their own.
Abby has been by his side every step of the way, but the physical, emotional, and financial challenges are overwhelming. She needs help to ensure that Ian receives the round-the-clock support he deserves without the crushing stress of mounting expenses.
This fundraiser will go directly toward:
- In-home nursing and caregiving support
- Medical supplies and equipment not covered by insurance
- Relief for Abby as she balances caregiving and daily life for Ian and their 3 active and involved children
Every donation, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference for this family. If you are not able to give, please consider sharing this page to help us reach more hearts.
On behalf of Abby and Ian, thank you for your kindness, compassion, and support during this deeply challenging time.
With gratitude,
Jamie Derus
