Support Ian Johnson's Kidney Transplant Journey

Hello, my name is Ian Johnson. I am a son, a brother, a father, and a friend. I am a Sigma Man, I am a nerd who loves engineering. I am a musician who appreciates all forms of music. And I am a survivor. Some of you who will read this know my survival story, but for those who don't I will share it. In 2020 I was diagnosed with Fourniers gangrene. I came within 24 hours of dying. That experience changed my perspective on a lot of things and I have worked hard to regain my health since then. I am now facing a new challenge, I have been diagnosed with stage 5 kidney disease. It took me a little while to fully grasp what this means for my future. In many ways I am lucky: I'm still relatively young, my health is much better than it was, I have a great job and career, and I have great medical care and insurance. So why the GoFundMe you may ask? Well my long term prognosis will require me to get a transplant. My doctors have begun the process of referring me to hospitals with transplant lists. The reason I am asking for assistance from everyone is so that I can expand the list of hospitals I can be on. The money from this fundraiser will be going to travel and lodging costs so that when I get the calls from the hospitals I can travel there for testing for approval to be added to their transplant list, and hopefully soon after that a kidney transplant. Whenever I do get a transplant I will need to also stay in the area of the hospital for about a month or so after surgery. I'm hoping with all of your help I can meet my goal. I plan on donating any funds that are left to the Support groups who work with the National Kidney Foundation in order to help others who are not as fortunate as I am.
