Support Ian Allen's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
On Friday, September 13, 2024, Ian Allen was involved in a head-on collision. Ian was coming home from work and just leaving town when a driver on her phone veered across the centerline and hit him head-on. He was airlifted to Duluth, where it was determined that his left knee was shattered and the base of his big right toe is broken, which is going to hamper his mobility. He has had surgery on his left leg, which will have to be completely immobilized for at least 4 weeks. He also suffered 6 broken ribs, a broken sternum, and very bruised lungs with a small puncture. He is covered in bruises and contusions and has a major laceration to his face. The current prognosis is several months to recover.
Ian is not only a son and brother, but also a husband and father. He and his wife Makalia have two little boys and a baby girl due in 6 weeks. They are now looking at a significant financial impact as a result of this accident: a loss of income while the family breadwinner is out of work for several months, current medical bills associated with Ian's injuries, impending medical bills associated with the birth of their daughter via caesarean, and additional medical bills they will incur in the coming months as part of a second surgery on Ian's knee.
This young family will be dealing with the stress of the accident in so many ways, but your donation can alleviate some of the financial burden, and we are asking for your help. A donation in any amount will help offset the financial burden and help the whole family recover from this frightening, unexpected, and life-impacting event. Please donate $20, $50, or whatever amount you can to help Ian, Makalia, and their young family weather the financial storm on the horizon. We will provide updates on his condition and let you know how things are going for the family. Please also SHARE this GoFundMe link after you donate and spread the word. THANK YOU!!!
A message from Ian's mom, Leann Fitzpatrick: "I cannot stress enough the impact distracted driving has on so many people. Put down the phones, people. Nothing on that phone is worth someone's life."
