If you've known me for a while, you've probably heard me talk about one of my favorite dogs of all time - Hypatia.

Hypatia spent years in the shelter system and then in a long term board and train facility before finally finding her perfect forever family. I met Hypatia while she was in the shelter system years ago and fell in love with her. For years, my friend Rachel and I spent our Sunday nights with Hypatia. I was beside myself with joy when Hypatia finally found her people.

Hypatia has been in her home for just over a year now. She has thrived with her family - an adult son and mother who live in a home with no other pets or kids to steal the spotlight from Queen Hypatia. I still visit Hypatia at least once per month and can attest to the immense love Hypatia's family has for her.

Now, Hypatia needs our help again. Hypatia began suffering from skin allergies shortly before her adoption. Even with medication, Hypatia has been scratching her skin so raw that her skin is often inflamed. She sometimes has sores on her skin from scratching. Hypatia's family has taken her to vet appointments, purchased medication, changed her food, and tried several other remedies to help her. Unfortunately, Hypatia's skin condition is not improving.

Hypatia needs an allergy test ($200) to identify her specific allergen(s) and Apoquel, a medication recommended by the vet. This medication costs $83 per month. Currently, Hypatia is on a less expensive medication that does not seem to be effective for her. Hypatia's family is on a fixed income and could use help getting Hypatia the care she needs. My goal is to raise $1,500 for Hypatia's vet care. This will cover her allergy test and a year of the allergy medication she needs. It will also help offset Hypatia's family's costs for her special food. Any money raised by this fundraiser will go directly to Hypatia's vet care.
