Support Hunter’s ongoing medical treatment and therapy

We are raising funds to support my brother Bobby, his wife Christina, and my nephew Hunter as they embark on Hunter’s ongoing medical treatment and the next big step in that journey.

Hunter was born with fibular hemimelia in his right leg and syndactyly in both hands. After two hand surgeries at 1 year and SUPERankle surgery at 2 years, he’s currently undergoing his most significant treatment to date, his first leg lengthening. There are only a small number of specialists who are experienced in treating fibular hemimelia, and Hunter’s surgeon recently moved from Maryland to Florida. So the family has temporarily relocated to the Orlando area for at least 10 weeks for surgery, and subsequent lengthening and physical therapy. Physical therapy is required 5 days per week during the 10-week period. The entire process is expected to take 6-7 months and will require a return for follow-up and an additional surgery.

This process has a considerable and lasting impact on the family across all aspects of their lives. Donating to support the family's travel and significant medical expenses is one way we can help while Hunter undergoes his surgery and subsequent treatments, and help ease some of the stress for his family.

Syndactyly is a condition where two or more digits are fused together. Fibular hemimelia is a congenital limb deficiency where the fibular bone is partially or completely missing in the lower leg, which shortens the affected leg. In Hunter's case, his fibula is completely absent.
