Hello friends!
My name is Hunter, and I am a 34 year old trans man.
I was a late bloomer in my gender journey, but have dreamed of having top surgery since I came out in 2017. Many obstacles over the years have prevented me from having gender affirming surgery: my location, lack of resources, being unable to take time off of work, not having insurance. Now I have built a life for myself when I am in almost the perfect place to have surgery. I was told I would be waiting almost a year from my consult to be scheduled and then have surgery, but was surprised with a much sooner date!
The time has finally come!
I will be having a double mastectomy on November 14th. It is surreal, and I am forever grateful that my insurance will cover my procedure.
Here is where I am asking for community support.
I will be out of work for almost 3 weeks, and taking things very slow and intentionally while I recover and return to work at partial capacity.
I’m raising $3,000 to cover part of my rent, since medical leave will only pay a portion of my salary. I will need to buy food, to pay for my assorted monthly bills, prescription, requires post surgery items, and to purchase some things that will make my home more accessible for me as I recover. During recovery, I’ll have to sleep upright, won’t be able to lift more than 5lbs, and I will have an extremely limited range of motion for several weeks ( t-rex arms).
This is going to be a life changing surgery for me, and I will be an entirely new person moving forward. My dream is coming to life in front of me and I am counting down the days until I will finally be able to see myself the way I have always envisioned.
Thank you all for loving me, supporting me, and for being alongside me during this journey!!
