Support Hunter's Journey to Conquer MDS and HLH

Hi my name is Brigitte and I’m am raising funds for my incredible 16 year old son, Hunter.

Hunter, a bright and determined 16-year-old, was diagnosed with MDS (Myelodysplastic Syndrome) in October 2023. Despite the initial shock, he faced his diagnosis with unwavering strength and embarked on a journey towards recovery. In January 2024, Hunter underwent a bone marrow transplant, a crucial step in his battle against the disease.

Just as we thought Hunter was on the path to triumph, our world was turned upside down once again. After being cancer free for 189 days he was re-hospitalised due to a serious condition called HLH (Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis). This rare disease disrupts the normal functioning of the immune system, causing the body's defense system to attack its own blood cells. As a result, Hunter's spleen and liver have enlarged, posing additional challenges to his recovery.

Hunter has always dreamt of becoming a builder since he was a young boy. His passion for construction and design has fueled his determination to overcome any obstacle in his path. However, due to his MDS diagnosis and now HLH, he has had to put his ambitions on hold.

Hunter was ready to start an apprenticeship this month, but his health journey has forced him to prioritize his recovery and treatment.

As Hunter's mother, it breaks my heart to see my son face such adversity at such a young age. I have been by his side throughout this entire journey, and while my love and support are infinite, I am unable to provide the financial assistance he needs. I had to stop working for over 9 months to care for Hunter, which has put a strain on our finances.

With Hunter's 17th birthday approaching, he had hoped to celebrate this milestone by driving his very own car. Like any teenager, he eagerly anticipated the freedom and independence that comes with having a vehicle. Unfortunately, his health challenges have prevented him from working and saving up for this dream.

We are setting up this GoFundMe campaign to help Hunter purchase his first car and alleviate some of the financial burdens we are facing during this incredibly stressful time.
