This is Hunter Redhorse Arthur (Rez Ball), I am reaching out to you with an exciting opportunity to support my journey as a filmmaker. I am currently completing my thesis short film "Hunter" at NYU Tisch School of the Arts. I need your help to raise $12,500 for the film’s post-production. This project is crucial not only for my graduation but also for sharing a vital narrative that deserves to be told.

About the Film:

"Hunter" is a semi-autobiographical exploration of a pivotal moment in my life—my transition from boyhood to manhood. As an Urban Indian from Scottsdale, Arizona, I had never experienced hunting before, making this transition both daunting and significant. In Navajo tradition, taking a boy on his first hunt and taking an animals life is a profound rite of passage.

LOGLINE:

On a coming-of-age hunt, father and son, Winston and Hunter, are stunned when Hunter deliberately misses a massive buck early in the hunt, setting off a quest to reveal the hidden reason behind his choice.

This film reflects that journey, highlighting the essential elements of manhood that I believe are important to share with the world. The father-son relationship at the heart of this story is timeless and deeply personal. It’s a narrative I feel compelled to tell, illustrating the challenges and growth of a young Indigenous man navigating his identity and responsibilities. As a Native American artist,

I am passionate about amplifying our voices and showcasing our stories. This film reflects the rich tapestry of our culture and aims to foster understanding and connection.
