Hello, my name is Veronica Castrillon, and I’m reaching out to ask for your support for an incredible man who means the world to many people, especially my son, the father of my child. Humberto Bauta has been diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer that has metastasized, and we’re facing a battle we never imagined. I’m setting up this GoFundMe to raise funds for his treatment and to give him the best chance to keep fighting.

Humberto Bauta is 46 years old and has always been a great person, hardworking, loving dad, someone with a big heart and a contagious laugh. He’s the kind of person who lights up a room and has been an amazing father to our 17-year-old son, Nicholas, and his little brother, Tiago. Whether it’s playing catch in the backyard or helping with homework, he’s always been there—until cancer took that away. We got the devastating news that his cancer had progressed to stage 4 and spread to other parts of his body. Since then, life has been a whirlwind of doctor visits, tests, and treatments.

Right now, Humberto went through chemotherapy and radiation, but the costs are overwhelming. Between hospital stays, medications, and specialized care, the bills are piling up faster than we can manage. We’re also exploring additional options—like clinical trials or advanced therapies—that insurance won’t fully cover. Our goal is to raise $80,000 to help pay for these treatments, ease the financial burden, and let him focus on healing instead of worrying about money.

Every day is a fight, but Humberto hasn’t given up. We are doing this for his sons, for the chance to see them grow up, and for all the little moments we’re still dreaming of sharing as a family.
